These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Ridvan Kizil, an individual based in Türkiye who publishes the Rawha mobile application and its related services (together, the "Service") under the name Rawha ("Rawha", "we", "us").

Please read them. They include disclaimers, limits on our liability (§14–§15), and rules for how disputes are handled (§19).

1. How this agreement is made#

  1. You accept by an explicit action. The first time you open Rawha, and again whenever these Terms change in a way that matters, the app shows these Terms and asks you to tick a box and press "Agree and continue". Doing so means you agree to these Terms and to the End User Licence Agreement. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
  2. We keep a record. We record the version you accepted, the date and time, your app version, platform and language, and attach it to your account once you have one. This is how both of us can show what was agreed.
  3. Privacy is separate. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. It is not part of what you "agree" to here. Where the law requires your consent to something (for example, sending text to the AI provider), the app asks for it separately and you can refuse.
  4. A summary is not the agreement. Any short summary the app shows is for convenience. These Terms are the agreement.

2. Who may use Rawha#

  • You must be at least 13 years old.
  • If you are under 18 (or under the age of majority where you live), you may use Rawha only if your parent or legal guardian has read and agreed to these Terms for you. Where the law of your country sets a higher minimum age for using a service like this, your parent or guardian must agree until you reach it.
  • You must not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under the laws of your country or under applicable sanctions and export-control laws.

By using Rawha you confirm that all of the above is true.

3. The Service#

Rawha is an Islamic companion app offering Quran reading with translations (modern editions from QuranEnc.com and public-domain editions), Quran recitation, prayer times, Qibla direction, a mosque finder, du'a and adhkar libraries, a Hijri calendar, a private journal, prayer-related habit features, a zakat calculator, optional social features (Family Circle, Group Khatmah), and optional AI features (verse reflection, guides, coaches, a recitation check and a Mental Wellbeing companion).

Where recitation audio is offered, it is streamed from Quran Foundation under its developer terms; each recording remains the property of its reciter or rights holder, and a reciter may be withdrawn at any time.

What is free. Rawha is free to download. The Quran — its Arabic text, every translation and recitation — prayer times, Qibla, the mosque finder, du'a and adhkar, the Hijri calendar, trackers, widgets and every other non-AI feature are free for every user and are never placed behind a payment. There are no advertisements.

What membership is. The AI features cost us money each time they are used. Each account includes a small number of free AI uses; after that, the AI features require an optional paid membership. Membership never unlocks, sells or limits access to the Quran or any other religious content. See §4.

We may add, change or remove features. We will not move the Quran or the other free features behind a payment.

4. Membership, Billing and Cancellation#

  • What you get. Membership gives your account a monthly allowance of AI use (verse questions, coaches and guides, reflections, recitation checks). The allowance is limited. There is a daily cap (currently 40 AI requests a day) and a monthly limit based on what your requests cost us to process (currently enough for several hundred typical requests a month; long conversations use it faster). When you reach a limit, AI features pause until the next day or until the allowance refills the following month, counted from your billing day. The app tells you when you reach a limit. Unused allowance does not carry over. We may adjust these limits; a reduction during a period you have already paid for is a change covered by "Changes" below.
  • Free uses. The free AI uses included with each account are a courtesy, may change, and have no cash value.
  • Price and period. Plans (for example monthly and yearly), prices and any free trial are shown on the membership screen in your local currency before you buy, and are set by the App Store or Google Play listing for your country. Prices include or exclude tax as your store shows.
  • Payment. Purchases are made through Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) with the payment method on your store account. We never see or store your card details.
  • Automatic renewal. A membership renews automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. On Apple devices, cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. If a plan includes a free trial, you are charged when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
  • How to cancel. iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions (or the App Store account page). Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep membership until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your Rawha account does not cancel a store subscription — cancel it in the store first.
  • Refunds and withdrawal. Apple and Google handle refunds under their own policies; request one from the store you bought from. If the law where you live gives you a right to withdraw from a purchase or to a refund, nothing in these Terms removes it; that right is exercised through the store that took the payment.
  • Restoring. If you reinstall or change phone, use "Restore purchases" on the membership screen while signed in to the same store account. A membership belongs to the Rawha account it was first used with.
  • Changes. We may change prices or what membership includes, for example because our costs or the AI services we rely on change. A price change for an existing subscription takes effect only as the store's rules and the law allow, with advance notice, and you can cancel before it applies. If we materially reduce what a membership includes during a period you have already paid for, we will tell you in advance, and you may cancel and ask for a refund of the unused part of that period where the law gives you that right. If we end membership, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.

5. Religious Content — Rawha is not a religious authority#

The Quranic text, hadith, du'a, adhkar, prayer-time calculations and other Islamic content are provided for personal religious use. We work to be accurate, but:

  • Rawha is a software tool. It is not a mufti, a scholar, a fatwa service or a religious authority, and nothing in it is a religious ruling. For matters of fiqh, aqeedah or any personal religious question, ask a qualified scholar you trust.
  • Prayer times are astronomical calculations. They vary with the calculation method and juristic school you choose and depend on your device's reported location and clock. Verify with your local mosque, especially for fasting times.
  • Qibla direction depends on your device's sensors and location and can be thrown off by metal, magnets and electronics. Verify it locally.
  • Translations are human interpretations of the meaning of the Quran, not the Quran itself. Editions differ, and older translations use dated language.
  • The recitation check tells you which words speech recognition heard. It does not assess tajweed and is not a teacher's judgement.
  • Zakat, calendar dates and mosque listings are estimates or third-party data and may be wrong. Moon-sighting and local practice take precedence over calculated dates.

6. AI Features#

  • You are talking to a machine. Every AI feature in Rawha is an automated system — not a person, a scholar, a doctor, a therapist or a lawyer.
  • It can be wrong. AI output is generated probabilistically. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date, or attribute words to the Quran, hadith or scholars incorrectly. Check anything that matters against a reliable source. Do not rely on AI output as the sole basis for any decision.
  • Not professional advice. AI output is not religious, medical, mental-health, legal, financial or other professional advice, and using an AI feature does not create any professional relationship.
  • How it works. Your message, any relevant verse text and recent conversation history are sent to our server and then to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a reply, only after you have given explicit consent in the app. Recitation recordings are sent to our speech-recognition provider (ElevenLabs) only when you tap "Check my recitation". Details are in the Privacy Policy.
  • What not to send. Do not submit confidential information, or personal information about other people.
  • Limits. AI use is subject to the free allowance and membership limits in §4, and to technical limits we set to keep the Service safe and affordable.
  • Your use of output. You may use AI output for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not present it to others as a scholarly ruling or as the words of the Quran or the Prophet ﷺ.
  • Reporting. You can report an AI reply from within the app. We may review reported content and the related conversation to improve safety.
  • Provider rules. Your use of the AI features must also comply with Anthropic's Usage Policies.

7. Wellbeing and safety#

The Mental Wellbeing companion and the mood and reflection features are not a medical device, not therapy, not counselling and not a crisis service. They offer general reflection and comfort only. They cannot diagnose, treat or monitor any condition, and no one is watching your conversations in real time.

If you are thinking about harming yourself or someone else, or you are in danger, stop using the app and contact your local emergency number or a crisis line now. The app shows helpline information when it detects certain words, but it can miss them. Do not depend on it.

8. Your Account#

  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity under your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and not to share, sell or transfer your account.
  • Tell us promptly at legal@rawhaapp.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
  • You may delete your account at any time from Profile in the app (see Privacy Policy §10).

9. Acceptable Use#

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You agree not to:

  1. Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
  2. Harass, defame, threaten, or incite hatred or violence against any person or group.
  3. Post or share, via Family Circle, Group Khatmah or any other feature, content that is illegal, abusive, hateful, defamatory, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights.
  4. Interfere with, disrupt, reverse-engineer, decompile, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its servers, or bypass any usage limit, payment or security measure.
  5. Use automated means (bots, scrapers) against the Service, or create accounts in bulk.
  6. Use the AI features to extract model behaviour or prompts, to circumvent safety measures, or to generate content that misrepresents Islam, the Quran or the Prophet ﷺ.
  7. Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation.
  8. Alter the Quranic text, or redistribute translations or recitations from the Service in breach of their licences.
  9. Resell or commercially exploit the Service.

We may remove content, limit features, and suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules. Content in group features can be reported and users blocked from within the app; we act on reports of objectionable content promptly.

10. Your Content#

You keep ownership of journal entries, reflections, intentions, reminders, family-circle du'as, group-khatmah dedications and other content you create ("Your Content").

By submitting Your Content to features that involve our servers (for example a du'a you share with a group, a reminder synced to your account, a message to an AI feature), you grant Rawha a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, transmit, process and display Your Content solely to operate, secure and moderate the feature you used. We will not sell Your Content or use it for advertising.

You are responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the right to submit it. We may remove content that breaks these Terms or the law.

If you believe content in the Service infringes your copyright, email legal@rawhaapp.com with: your contact details; a description of the work; where the material appears in the Service; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them; and your signature (typed is fine). We remove or disable infringing material and, where appropriate, terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. Rights holders of recitations or translations may use the same address; we respond to such requests promptly.

12. Intellectual Property#

  • App software and design: © Rawha. All rights reserved. The End User Licence Agreement gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app.
  • Quranic text: the Arabic text of the Quran is in the public domain. The Uthmani edition bundled in the app is the Tanzil Project text, used under CC BY 3.0.
  • Translations: modern editions are provided by QuranEnc.com (Rowwad Translation Center) under its published terms and remain © their translators and publishers; the bundled editions are in the public domain. Each edition is credited in the reader and on the Open-Source Licenses page.
  • Recitation audio: streamed from Quran Foundation; each recording is © its reciter or rights holder. The adhan recordings are from Wikimedia Commons (CC0 and CC BY-SA 3.0, attributed on the Licenses page).
  • Hadith, du'a and adhkar: drawn from the Quran and the classical hadith collections, each cited to its source; our translations of du'as are our own.

You may not reproduce the app's design, code or proprietary content outside the app without our written permission. Third-party content remains subject to its owner's terms.

13. Third-Party Services#

The Service relies on third parties, including Supabase (database and authentication), Anthropic (AI), ElevenLabs (speech recognition), QuranEnc.com (translations), Quran Foundation (recitation), RevenueCat, Apple and Google (purchases, distribution and push delivery), Expo (push notifications and updates), Aladhan (prayer times), OpenStreetMap and its Overpass mirrors (mosque finder), the gold-api.com and open.er-api.com price services (zakat calculator), and Wikimedia Commons (adhan audio). Their own terms apply to their services; the Privacy Policy lists what each receives. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or actions. A feature may stop working if a third party changes or withdraws its service.

14. Disclaimers#

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RAWHA DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE OR ACCURATE.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT PRAYER TIMES, QIBLA DIRECTION, CALENDAR DATES, MOSQUE LISTINGS, ZAKAT CALCULATIONS, TRANSLATIONS, RECITATION CHECKS OR AI OUTPUT ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE OR RELIGIOUSLY AUTHORITATIVE. YOU USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK.

15. Limitation of Liability#

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RAWHA, ITS OWNER, AND ANYONE WORKING ON ITS BEHALF WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE) OR ANY OTHER THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN TOLD SUCH DAMAGES ARE POSSIBLE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND (B) USD 100.

If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, §14, §15 and §16 apply to you only as follows. We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for death or personal injury, for fraud, under product-liability law, and where we have given a guarantee. For slight negligence we are liable only if we breach an obligation that is essential to the contract (one you may ordinarily rely on), and then only for the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. Your statutory rights where digital content or a digital service is not in conformity with the contract are not affected, and §16 (indemnification) does not apply to you.

What these Terms do not limit. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you. In particular, nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for gross negligence or intentional misconduct, and nothing here takes away rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived (for example, statutory rights about digital content and services in the EU and the UK). Where a limit in these Terms is not allowed by the law that applies to you, it applies only to the extent that law allows.

16. Indemnification#

To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rawha and its owner from claims, damages and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) brought by third parties and arising from Your Content, your breach of these Terms, or your misuse of the Service. This section does not apply to you where consumer law in your country does not permit it.

17. Suspension and Termination#

  • By you. You may stop using Rawha at any time and delete your account from Profile. Cancel any store subscription separately (§4).
  • By us. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we must do so to comply with the law, or to protect other users or the Service. Where reasonable we will tell you why and give you a chance to put things right; we may act immediately for serious breaches or safety reasons.
  • Ending the Service. We may stop offering Rawha, or part of it, with reasonable notice where practical. If you have a paid membership, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for, or receive a pro-rata refund through the store where the law requires it.
  • What survives. Sections 6, 7, 10–16, 19 and 21 continue to apply after these Terms end.

18. Changes to these Terms#

We may change these Terms to reflect changes in the Service, in the law, or in our costs, or to improve clarity and safety. When a change matters, the app will show the updated Terms and ask you to accept them again before you continue; we will not rely on your continued use alone. If you do not accept, stop using the Service, cancel any subscription, and you may delete your account. Changes do not apply retroactively to disputes that arose before them.

19. Governing Law and Disputes#

  • Talk to us first. If you have a complaint, email legal@rawhaapp.com. We will try in good faith to resolve it within 60 days, and both of us agree to try this before starting legal proceedings (except where urgent court relief is needed).
  • Governing law and courts. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be heard by the competent courts of Türkiye.
  • If you are a consumer. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country whose law says so, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country. Nothing in this section takes those rights away.
  • Individual claims. To the extent the law allows, each of us may bring claims against the other only on an individual basis, and not as a claimant or class member in any class or representative proceeding.
  • Time limit. To the extent the law allows, a claim must be brought within one year after the event giving rise to it. This does not shorten any limitation period that the law makes mandatory for consumers.

20. App Store and Google Play Terms#

If you obtained Rawha from the Apple App Store:

  • These Terms are between you and Rawha only, not Apple. Rawha, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
  • Your licence is limited to using the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. Rawha is responsible for any support the law requires.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, that you paid Apple for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claims, losses or costs attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are Rawha's responsibility, subject to these Terms.
  • Rawha, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, claims under consumer-protection or privacy law, and claims that the app infringes a third party's intellectual-property rights.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app (for example, your mobile data agreement).
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you.

If you obtained Rawha from Google Play, Google is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the app; the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your use of the store and its billing.

21. General#

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, the End User Licence Agreement and any terms shown at purchase are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. The Privacy Policy explains our data practices.
  • Severability. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, that part is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in force.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a term, that is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours to a successor that takes over the Service, provided your rights are not reduced.
  • Events outside our control. We are not responsible for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages of the third-party services in §13.
  • Electronic communication. You agree that we may give you notices electronically — in the app, by push notification or by email to your account address — and that these satisfy any requirement that a notice be in writing.
  • Language. These Terms are written in English. Where we provide a translation or a summary in another language, the English text governs, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
  • Headings are for convenience and do not affect meaning.
